On this, the third day since blog.gleeson.us broke the story of the Nudegate scandal, we have learned that the perpetratrix at the epicenter of the conspiracy has broken her silence. Washington-area barmaid Kayti Didriksen, 32, has granted an interview to the Jefferson City News-Tribune.
In the course of this interview, she revealed her motive for creating the offending image. She claims that George Bush had somehow embarrassed her, and she was exacting her revenge. She denies that politics was her motive, describing herself as an “apolitical” server of beer and cocktails.
“I thought, ‘I’ll embarrass the president,’” she said. “Now, I’m in the center of something that’s not me at all.”
When and how Mr. Bush had embarrassed Miss Didriksen were not specified, but some have speculated that the president may previously have painted a grotesquely misshapen nude portrait of her in the past.
“It is not widely known that the president dabbles in oils in his spare time,” says a top nude expert who asked not to be identified. “And frankly, he’s not very skilled at the representational arts. If he had in fact made a clumsy attempt at a nude portrait of this woman, then that piece of [art] she did would probably be justified.”
The scandal seems to have had minimal effect on the latest election polls.
Meanwhile, Didriksen’s alleged painting of Bush has reportedly found a more welcoming venue at something calling itself the “Museum of Modern Arf [sic].”
UPDATE: Was Bush framed?

Way, way back on Friday, while I was out running errands for my then-gravid wife, I picked up a copy of the Oklahoma Gazette, a free weekly paper, in the liquor store. I noticed that the cover story was about bloggers in the state of Oklahoma. “Neat-o,” I thought. “I would sure like to find some [other] good Oklahoma blogs.”
Well, I never read that story. See, I was a mite busy that day, and the subsequent days, what with one thing and another. And since that day, I must confess that I completely forgot about that paper I picked up. Never even opened it. Still haven’t.
But I was awake at around 4 a.m. last night for some baby duty, and I blearily did a Google search for “Gladly the cross-eyed bear.” I have no earthly idea what possessed me to search for that phrase. Perhaps it was some supernatural suggestion planted in my mind. It led me to this blog page, about the Oklahoma City seal, which I found interesting. So I looked at some other pages on dustbury.com, and whaddya know? I had found a kindred Oklahoma blogger (one “Charles G. Hill”), and in one of his posts he even linked to the Gazette story I had forgotten to read.
The Gazette story doesn’t mention me, of course; I have only been a blogger for a little under two weeks, and as of yet very few people know about our little blog. (We are getting an average of about 1,000 unique visits a day, by the way.) We’re waiting for people with high-traffic sites to notice us, and link to one of our highly lucid and entertaining posts. (Glenn? Charles? Bill? Hint.)
So howdy, Charles G. Hill. Now, where did I put that paper?
