The Wizbang 2004 Weblog Awards nominations are now open. I’ll be nominating blog.gleeson.us, but first I’m trying to figure out which of the 33 categories I’m supposed to enter.
As near as I can figure, blog.gleeson.us potentially qualifies in four categories: New Blogs, Group Blogs, Humor Blogs (well, I think I’m funny), and Top 1000-1750 Blogs (we weigh in at 1310, as of today).
Are we supposed to enter all the categories for which we qualify, or is that wrong? Would I be penalized for entering all four?
I have until the 28th to figure it all out. Anyone who knows anything about this contest, please feel free to leave a comment and straighten me out.
(UPDATE Nov. 24: Three days ago we were ranked 1310, as reported above. But we’re surging quickly, and today we are ranked 1108! I’d better enter that contest today; if we go below 1000, we get promoted to a tougher category.)

Progress just keeps on progressing. I have just upgraded the Autorantic Virtual Moonbat live chat module to version 0.2. The biggest improvement since the last upgrade (when I added the options panel on Friday) will be seen in the “About” section. Now, when you click on the “ABOUT” button, you get an informative explanation of the AVM’s features and history. The code for putting the AVM on your own site is now in the “About” section, too. Of course, new rant phrases are also being added all the time.
As before, those of you who put the AVM on your sites will notice that the upgrade has happened automatically, under your very noses. Your code is fine just the way it is.
(MAJOR UPDATE: The “fun-size” sidebar module is now available too!)
