Responding to overwhelming demand, I have designed a new, miniaturized version of the Autorantic Virtual Moonbat. You can put it anywhere you want, really, but it’s designed to fit perfectly in the sidebar area of your blog.

The new “sidebar module” doesn’t have all the options and features of the “live chat module,” because there was no room for all those buttons. But it’s just as funny, and only half the size.

Unlike the live chat module, which lets you talk back to the robot, the sidebar module won’t let anyone else get a word in edgewise. All you can do is click the “RANT” button and get ranted at. (Although if the robot sits idle for a couple of minutes, it gets antsy and rants without you.)

To put the Autorantic Virtual Moonbat sidebar module on your site, just stick this bit of code on your page:

Of course, for those who insist on the robust options and interactivity of the live chat module, it’s still here, too.

The code for the live chat module is the same as ever:

With either module, the one on your site will be updated automatically as I make improvements; you won’t need to change your code.

Have fun!

you should put a little thing on your site where people can submit phrases for the robot, then you can review them and add them to the vocabulary…

I found my new ‘AutoRantic Virtual Moonbat’ thanks to 4RWWs, which was programmed by Sean Gleeson. If any of you want it, the page where the code can be found (which also includes an interactive version) is here…

Love the moonbat! Just like the real thing!

I’ll see if I can get one of our local Socialist Alliance Party (www.socialist-alliance.org) guys to come over and have a look at it- they may want to sign this little bloke up for the “About Us” and “Campaign Statements & Media Releases” sections.

It’d save them tons of work with updating the site - the moonbat can do it for them.

    Keep up the good work.

Oh wow I love that AVM! By chance have you made one that is a right-wing bible thumper? It spits out psalms, verses and tells you how much you are going to hell because you play Dungeons and Dragons you heathen you? If you made one of those… I would -have- to put it on my blog! LOL! :)

  29. Comment by Gleeson — Wed 20 Apr 2005 @ 2:57 pm

I just might try to do something like that, Lisa. Certain goofball Bible-thumpers (like Hal Lindsey) are just begging to be parodized. But it would be awful tricky to pull off the gag without seeming irreverent toward the Bible and Christianity itself. Maybe it cannot be done. I’ll think about it some more, and if I do it, I’ll post it. My best advice for you (and for everyone you know) is to keep coming back to blog.gleeson.us several times a day for many, many years.

The Autorantic Virtual Moonbat is AMAZING!

It’s like you read the mind of nearly every loony tuned lefty that has commented at Mike’s America.

In fact, many of the Autorantics comments were MORE coherent than the typical moonbat!!!

I’ve noticed the moonbats are particularly unhinged during the fool moon… I’m thinking of linking the Autorantic up with my full moon display: http://www.calculatorcat.com/moon_phases/moon_phases.phtml

Saturday, May 29th, 2005: The AVMG forms a data link between itself, the Democratic Underground, International Answer, and Indymedia. Artificial Stupidity is achieved.
