With so many people just finding our blog for the first time, now seems like a good opportunity to share some of the happy moments of 2004 you may have missed. (Especially those of you who are wondering why the heck you should vote for the Gleeson Bloglomerate in the 2004 Weblog Awards.)
And when we say “happy moments of 2004,” of course we mean October and November of 2004. We had happy moments before October, but not a blog; so we can’t share those with you. Sorry.
Naturally, you could find these highlights just by looking at all the pages of the Bloglomerate. But this little “Greatest Hits” directory sure is quicker. So let’s take the guided tour. Please keep your hands and other extremities in the car, and refrain from flash photography. Let’s start with…
ELECTION COVERAGE
Did you say election coverage? Our exclusive reporting of the debates (here, here, and, um, here) featured transcripts not found anywhere else. And we blew the whistle on those sneaky debate cheaters Kerry, Edwards, and Bush. Grrr.
We brought you front-row seats to the Bin Laden-Springsteen tour, and then we wrote a page of blogging history by making endorsements in every race in the country! Every race! Really!
On election day, we performed a public service, decreasing voter apathy by 11 percent, with our “Hey, go vote, or something” project. (You’re welcome, America.) And then on election night, our exclusive photo of war hero gentleman senator Kerry with his spiritual advisor made the cover of Newsweek. Or at least, it should have.
Oh, and the Christopher Reeve thing. Sad.
But hey, never mind 2004, we’re already widely known as “the go-to guy for 2008 blogging!” Now that’s blogging!
OUR MAD ROBOT
Have you seen the Autorantic Virtual Moonbat? We think you may have; it gets around quite a bit. Well, it was born right here! We’ve been thinking of giving it its own blog; but until then, it calls the Gleeson Bloglomerate home. To put this detestable contraption on your own site, read the instructions here. To keep up with its illustrious career, read this post, and this one. Funny stuff.
SPEAKING OF FUNNY…
Who was the first blog to mine the “Apologize to Saddam” craze for comedy gold? That was us. See here too.
Who solved the Mystery of Murrow’s Ghost? That was us.
Who got the dirt on O’Reilly? Us again.
Oh, we could go on, but we don’t want to spoil the surprises if you want to go thumbing through our archives. Have fun.
Oh, and thank you for your vote. Go vote. Do it once a day until Dec. 12. It’s your duty as an American. (If you’re American, we mean. If you’re not, it’s your duty as a foreigner.)
