DEVELOPING...
Dear S.G.:
Thank you again for all your help with getting the 2004 Weblog Awards up and running! I hated to impose upon you at the last minute like that, interrupting your important work with [censored] at the Central [censored] Agency, not to mention your outstanding charitable activity finding the cure for cancer and sheltering homeless Frenchmen.
Your expertise helped us (largely) put an end to the malicious hacking of the contest site by that unscrupulous pornography monger. I still can’t believe they had the gall to insert themselves into every category, on the very day polls were supposed to open! And as fast as I could delete them, they kept somehow sneaking back into the listings!
Fortunately (and with your help, of course), we managed to block those thieves from all but one of the categories, and opened the polls only one day late. And that’s such a minor category, I am frankly unconcerned. (But maybe I should put up a warning about that virus people will be downloading if they click on that link! Will you help me with the wording of that?)
Apparently, they still have their spambots sending in “votes,” too. I don’t know what they think they’re proving. Don’t they realize that even if they “win,” they sure as hell won’t get the award? I have tried to take this up with InterNIC (as you suggested), but since all the “votes” are coming from Cuban I.P. addresses, they say their hands are tied. (I am in no position to ask you a favor, but… do you think you could, ahem, “talk” to “somebody” about this for me? No need to answer, I’ll know whether you did soon enough.)
Thanks again. (For everything!)
K.A.
