We have just now taken in three evacuees from New Orleans. Two of them are dogs, and one of them is my sister, Colleen Gleeson.
Colleen stayed in New Orleans for the hurricane. She had been through a number of hurricane scares before, and they never delivered the promised total devastation, so she didn’t fear Katrina. Besides, she had her dogs to think of.
But after a week of living without electricity or running water or the rule of law, she decided to pull up stakes and get out. She is on her way to Chicago, but for the next two nights she is our honored guest. And her dogs too.
These are a couple of photos Colleen took with her cell phone after the storm.

Welcome to Oklahoma, Colleen!
