I just read a USA Today interview with Barbara Ehrenreich. She’s following up her bestseller Nickel and Dimed, with Bait and Switch. Both of these books are about Barabara Ehrenreich needlessly going through the motions of leading a middle-class life, so she can tell all her readers what it’s really like to be middle class.
The difference is, in Nickel and Dimed, she pretended to be middle class and working. In Bait and Switch, she’s pretending to be middle class and unemployed. The libretto: Barabara Ehrenreich tries to get a job with all these corporations, using an assumed name and fake resume. And nobody hires her!
Which doesn’t surprise me a bit. I don’t know why anyone would hire her. I wouldn’t hire her even with her real resume. I won’t read the book either.
