What do you think of this logic?
Premise: Heart transplants are good.
Conclusion: Therefore, a law mandating that everyone must get a heart transplant is also good.
It doesn’t quite follow, does it? I mean, just because you agree that some medical procedure is a good thing for people who want or need it, you would not necessarily support a law to make it compulsory for everyone, right?
Stated conversely, just because you oppose a law making some medical procedure compulsory, it does not follow that you oppose it for people who want or need it. Yes?
Should be pretty obvious. Hardly worth mentioning, really. Except…
