[EDITING MARCH 17: I made some edits to this post, and some of the subsequent posts in this series, tonight. I did not alter any of the facts or events I’ve described, which are scrupulously true, but I mollified the rather pejorative tone towards the real estate salesman in the story. This is 4143 NW 18th Street, worldwide headquarters of the Gleeson Bloglomerate, and residence of the Gleeson family. Shaded by a huge pecan tree and framed by a roughly hewn hedge of bushes, the Gleeson home looks perfectly ordinary. Any American family could live in this quaint cottage. But mine is the one that does, for now.

For four harrowing days, which just ended yesterday, our home was besieged by a real estate agent, the Okahoma City Police, and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. I would not blog about these events while they were occurring, but now I can share with you our true filthy tale of lies, greed, stupidity, abuse, guns, and the kitchen sink.

It began on Tuesday, March 7, when we were given a new lawn ornament.
