If you spend any time in the cereal aisle, I don’t have to tell you that the folks who make Pop-Tarts are always coming up with crazy new combinations of flavors. But you may not realize that for every new variety of toaster pastry that makes it to the greengrocer’s shelves, there are dozens of experimental flavors that don’t make the cut. Here are some concepts that were rejected, for one reason or another.

Ketchup-Mustard Fudge, rejected Pop-Tart Flavor
Pizza-Berry Mint, rejected Pop-Tart Flavor
Popcorn 'n Lox, rejected Pop-Tart Flavor
Salty Saudi Banana, rejected Pop-Tart Flavor
Tasteless Achromatic Substance, rejected Pop-Tart Flavor
Nutty T-Bone Shake, rejected Pop-Tart Flavor

THERE ARE MORE! Please see More rejected Pop-Tart flavors.

Oh, Sean, we missed you. I think I might like the popcorn and lox tart. I mean, who doesn’t like lox?

    Report to the Toastmaster General

Yours truly, fall 2004: Am I the only person in this city who ever buys Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts in the unfrosted-blueberry variety? Their status as one of the original flavors hasn’t…

It is incredibly difficult to find unfrosted blueberry poptarts in Vancouver Washington. They’re the best, but I’m not sure they exist anymore…

I bought two boxes yesterday, so either they must exist or I’m losing my vision even more quickly than I feared.
