Just five years ago, Glenn Reynolds launched Instapundit. To mark the occasion, he put up a link to his very first week of posts. Reading these, I noticed:

• Glenn would never have come off as a “right-winger” in August of 2001. Most of his posts were in support of cloning, fercryinoutloud, and dismissive of the pro-life position. It would only be later, after the war started and he sided with America, that people widely thought of him as a conservative. It just shows that conservatives are a pretty diverse and collegial bunch of fellows, whereas liberals will disown you for any dissent.
• Most of his links are dead. There were 34 links on that archive page, but only 13 of them actually went to the right articles. National Review and the New York Times are to be congratulated for maintaining working links over the five intervening years. The rest of you guys, listen up: it’s okay to restructure your website, but take the trouble to redirect your old links to the new pages! (Yeah, Washington Post, I’m talking to you!)
• There is not a single occurrence of “indeed” on the whole page. Nary a “heh” either. I would be interested in finding when these literary tics first appeared (but not interested enough to go through the archives and find out).
