As my regular readers already know (hi, Dad), “blog” is synonymous with “sexually explicit language, libelous or defamatory commentary, and outrageous language” over at the U.S. Department of the Interior, where all blogs are to be banned.
This blogophobic attitude is not confined to DOI, however. As Herschel Smith reports, it has infiltrated the DOD, too. Even at the fearless and glory-crusted United States Marine Corps, the official word is: “Sir, we don’t support blogs!”
We talked to [name withheld] at Camp Pendleton, and were told that the Department of Defense does not support blogs. We responded by posing the following question: So if we were the LA Times or some similar MSM outlet, you would support our questions? In a profound revealing response, Camp Pendleton said, “but Sir, you aren’t the LA Times. You’re a … blog!”
I can tell by the italics that Mr. Withheld spat out that last word with extreme distaste, the way a normal person would say “turd,” or “booger,” or “liberal.” I think this phobia is not healthy, and it is a most unbecoming attitude in a free republic.
